Password Generator

Random, cryptographically-secure passwords. Configure length and character sets.

Password Generator guide

The Password Generator creates random passwords directly in your browser. You choose the length, how many passwords to create, and whether to include lowercase letters, uppercase letters, digits, symbols or avoid ambiguous characters such as O, 0, I and l.

It is intended for creating passwords that you then save in a trusted password manager. Longer random passwords are much harder to guess than memorable words or reused passwords, especially for email, banking, hosting, cloud services and administrator accounts.

When to use it

How to use it

  1. Set the length. For most accounts, 16 to 24 characters is a practical minimum.
  2. Choose the character sets allowed by the website or system you are using.
  3. Turn on “avoid ambiguous” if the password will be read aloud or typed from paper.
  4. Click Generate and review the result.
  5. Copy the password into your password manager and avoid sending it over chat or email.

Example

Limitations and accuracy notes

FAQ

How long should a password be?

Use at least 16 characters for normal accounts and more for high-value accounts if the service allows it.

Should I include symbols?

Symbols increase the search space, but length and uniqueness matter more. Follow the rules of the system you are setting the password for.

Can UtilityTools.eu see the generated password?

No. The generated text stays in the page in your browser until you copy or clear it.
